DLACF nearly to $60,000 goal
Since November 2008, members of a volunteer committee have been working to raise dollars for the Detroit Lakes Area College Foundation (DLACF) capital campaign.
The campaign is focused on helping to grow the foundation to fund much needed equipment for Minnesota State Community & Technical College programs and student scholarships.
Presently, the DLACF campaign has raised 66 percent of its $60,000 goal. To date, the foundation has received generous gifts from Foltz Trucking, Bremer Bank, SJE Rhombus, MMCDC and BTD Manufacturing, as well as many other area businesses and individuals. The volunteer campaign committee will continue to actively solicit for donations through April 2009.
Last year, over 80 percent of the 250 students that graduated from MSCTC needed some type of financial assistance. The DLACF was organized in 1981 on behalf of MSCTC-Detroit Lakes. Scholarships are awarded annually by a scholarship committee, made up of faculty, staff and board members.
