DLCCC plans 'Family Fun Sunday'

Check out the giant slide and climbing wall in the gym or swim in the pool with Hank the Hound.

Or if you'd prefer, stop by the fitness center lobby and "get mugged." The DLCCC will be selling ceramic mugs during Family Fun Sunday activities, for individuals to customize with their own decorations. The mugs will then be fired at Clay Your Way in Fargo and returned in time to be used during Polar Fest Week, Feb. 2-11.

During that week, you can bring in your new mug to selected local businesses and receive a discount on hot beverages including coffee, hot chocolate and even soup.

Also on Sunday, the Historic Holmes Theatre (located across the parking lot from the fitness center) is planning a full afternoon of activities, starting with the 88 Keys & More Sunday Recital Series.

The Adoration Flute Trio, featuring local flutists Dotz Johnson, Yvonne Palmer and Carol Turner will perform at 2 p.m. on the main stage of the theater. They will be accompanied by Connie Wood on piano and Bruce Wisted on saxophone. Though there is no admission fee, there will be a free will offering taken. The concert is part of the BTD Community Connections Series. For more information, call 218-844-SHOW.

After the concert, the Holmes Dance Club will host a dance from 4-6 p.m. in the Holmes Ballroom (located across the hall from the main theater).

Instructors Mari and Armand Radke will teach a few basic steps prior to the dance, and the rest of the afternoon will be spent dancing away. Music varies from waltzes to fox trots to swing and more. The atmosphere is casual and is open to all ages and all dance abilities. Admission is $5 for adults, and students are admitted free.
