Donald H. DeGroat, 79, of Ogema, died Thursday, December 16, 2010 at his daughter's home in Maplewood, Minn., surrounded by his family.
Funeral services are set for 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 22 at Northern Lights Tabernacle in Richwood. Friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21 and for one hour prior to services Wednesday at the church.
Donald Harrison DeGroat was born to Floyd and Eleanor DeGroat on December 6, 1931 in Callaway. He was raised on a farm near Ogema, and served with the U.S. Army during the Korean War.
During his working life, Donald was a construction worker and roofer in the Ogema area.
Survivors include two sons and four daughters, Donald E. DeGroat, Dorothy J. DeGroat, Michelle (David) Horejsh, Barbara DeGroat, Penny DeGroat and Timothy DeGroat; 32 grandchildren; 35 great grandchildren; three brothers; one sister; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death were his parents; an infant daughter; a son, Floyd "Fritz" DeGroat; and the mother of his children, Bernice St. Clair DeGroat.
