Donald R. "Doc" Trowbridge, 84, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, April 17, 2014 at his home.
Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Monday April 21 at David-Donehower Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes, with Pastor Tim Rice officiating.
Interment was in Lakeside Cemetery, Frazee.
Visitation was from 5 to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 20, with a time of sharing at 7 p.m., in the David-Donehower Funeral Home, continuing for one hour prior to Monday's services at the funeral home.
Donald Richard Trowbridge was born to Richard and Eleanor (Karsnia) Trowbridge on September 5, 1929 in Frazee. He was raised and educated in Frazee and served with the U. S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
Doc was united in marriage to Shirley Forsberg, February 18, 1956 in Frazee. They made their home in Frazee, where Doc worked for Border States Construction and then, for many years for Driveway Services. They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1992 and to Lamplighter Manor in 2009. Shirley died in 2010.
Doc loved and cherished time with his family. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing, trapping, catching snapping turtles, playing the guitar and singing for groups at area nursing homes, and painting saws, welcome signs and rocks. He signed his work "Bright Skies."
Survivors include four children, Kim (Darwin) Samuelson of Detroit Lakes, Jody (Mark) Borgen of Audubon, Rick (Carol) of Moorhead and Kristi Anderson of Detroit Lakes; nine grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren; and a brother, Jim, of Jacobson, Minn.
In addition to his wife, Shirley, he was preceded in death by a son, Jamie and a sister-in-law, Mary Ann.
