Donovan L. Jackson, Sr., 63, of White Earth, died Friday, September 11, 2009 at his home.
Donovan Lee Jackson Sr. was born to Peter and Charlotte (Bryan) Jackson on July 26, 1946 in White Earth, where he was raised and attended White Earth Public Schools.
Donovan served with the Job Corps, where he learned heavy equipment operation. He moved to St. Paul, where he worked as a weatherization specialist for the Ramsey Action Program. He returned to White Earth and attended the Northwest Technical College Electrician Program. He then worked as an electrician and auto mechanic in the White Earth area.
Donovan and his wife Celesta were married on Aug. 4, 1973 at St. Columba Episcopal Church in White Earth. He will be remembered for his sense of humor. He enjoyed spending time with his nieces, nephews, family and friends as well as hunting and fishing.
Surviving Donovan are his wife of 36 years, Celesta Jackson of Duluth, Minn.; son, Donovan Jackson Jr., of Bad River, Wis.; a daughter, Dawn Langer of St. Paul; three brothers, Bill, Jeff and Wesley, all of White Earth; and two sisters, Darlene of Frazee and Sharon of Bemidji. Preceding him in death were his parents; his brothers, Jerry, Dennis, Maurice and Peter; and a special niece, Tasha Jackson.
Funeral services were held Monday, Sept. 14 at St. Columba Episcopal Church in White Earth, with the Rev. Lisa Smith and Rev. George Ross officiating. Interment will be in St. Columba Episcopal Cemetery, White Earth.
