Doris A. Holt, 76, of Detroit Lakes, died Sunday, July 10, 2011 at St. Mary's Essentia Health in Detroit Lakes.
Doris was born the daughter of Edgar and Bernice (Petersen) Evert on May 14, 1935 in Norcross, Minn. She attended school in Campbell, Minn., until moving to Frazee in 1951. Doris graduated from Frazee High School in 1953. As a young woman, she moved to Minneapolis and worked at North American Life Insurance Company.
Doris was united in marriage to Kenneth Holt on September 7, 1957 at Lake of the Isle Lutheran Church in Minneapolis. They made their home in Blaine, Minn., until 1974, when they moved to Detroit Lakes. In Detroit Lakes, Doris worked at Multi County Nursing Service and Walmart.
Doris enjoyed crocheting, sewing, gardening, cooking and baking. The times most important to Doris were those shared with her family and grandchildren.
Surviving Doris are her husband, Kenneth Holt of Detroit Lakes; four daughters, Lorelei Holt of Dilworth, Sherry (Dan) Pederson of Fargo, Carmen (Perry) Nodsle of Detroit Lakes and Candace (Lance) Kaiser of Otsego, Minn.; eight grandchildren, Elizabeth, Ashley and Christian Breitzman, Stuart Pederson, Morgan and Calvin Nodsle, Elle and August Kaizer; one sister, Shirley (Raymond) Ellingson of Doran, Minn.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents; daughter, Dawn Holt; and one sister, Darlene Albro.
Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, July 13, with a 7:30 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes.
Funeral services are set for 2 p.m. Thursday, July 14 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Detroit Lakes, with interment in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
