Doris C. Ilse, 78, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, February 7, 2009 at Emmanuel Nursing Home in Detroit Lakes.
Doris Hannah Nelson was born to Lawrence and Ruby (Stull) Nelson on Dec. 8, 1930 in Isabel, South Dakota. She married James L. Moncrief in 1948. James and Doris had 10 children; they divorced in 1968. She then married Floyd Conn in 1969 and they had one child together. Floyd died in 1978. In 1979, Doris married Adolph "Bud" Ilse in Sioux Falls, S.D. Bud died May 17, 2008.
Doris enjoyed cooking, canning and tending to her flower gardens, where she had a special love for roses, double hollyhocks and morning glories.
Surviving Doris are her children, Jimmie (Cheryl) Moncrief of Renton, Wash., Jennifer (Branden) Phillips of San Antonio, Texas, Fern Moncrief of Montana, Ruby Hulsey of Texas, Gloria Moncrief of Indiana, Ferrell (Barb) Moncrief of Inwood, Iowa, Forrest (Yvonne) Moncrief of Texas, Lorna (Rick) Mcmullen of Portland, Ore., and Melody (Todd) Thomas of Callaway; as well as 26 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
Preceding Doris in death were her parents; first husband James, second husband Floyd and 3rd husband Adolph; along with two sons.
Funeral services were held Thursday, Feb. 12 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with interment Friday, Feb. 13 at Fort Snelling National Cemetery in Minneapolis.
