Dorothy Mae Daniel was born to Joseph and Rose (Kiffmeyer) Daniel on Dec. 11, 1925 in Ray, N.D. She was raised and educated in Ray, graduating from Ray High School in 1943. After school she worked in the ammunition dump in Bremerton, Wash., during World War II. She returned to North Dakota and married Floyd Olson on June 12, 1945. Floyd died September 17, 1951.

Dorothy married John C. Baker on Jan. 19, 1953. They farmed near Frazee for a short time, until moving to Twin Haven Mink Ranch. They later moved to Babbitt, Minn., where John worked in the mines. They relocated to their farm in Callaway, and Dorothy worked at Erie 34 Club in Detroit Lakes before opening Lakes Upholstery Shop of Detroit Lakes. After many years at the shop, Dorothy semi-retired and began J&B Dairy with her son Bob and his wife Sue, and later Ma & Pa's Roadside Market with her daughter Cheryl and her husband Larry. Dorothy and John started a shuttle service to the Shooting Star Casino in their later years.

In her spare time Dorothy enjoyed crafting, sewing and crossword puzzles but most importantly, spending time with her children and their families.
