Dorothy D. McDougall, 72, of Detroit Lakes, died Saturday, September 14, 2013 at Sunnyside Care Center in rural Lake Park.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 21 at David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes, with interment in Calvary Cemetery, White Earth.
Friends may call at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 20, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at David-Donehower Funeral Home. The visitation will continue one hour prior to Saturday's services at the funeral home.
Dorothy D. McDougall was born to Alfred and Bessie (Wilcox) Power Powers on April 5, 1941 in Ogema. She spent her early years in Ogema, attending rural Ogema schools. She moved with her family to Detroit Lakes, where she graduated from Detroit Lakes High School in 1959. Fol-lowing graduation, she worked as a waitress for Karn's Caf.
Dorothy was united in marriage to Jack McDou-gall, June 11, 1961 in Detroit Lakes. They made their home in California and Minneapolis prior to returning to Detroit Lakes in 1978.
Dorothy worked for Big Daddy's Tesoro, WE Fest, did personal care and housekeeping and was a clerk at the Sears store prior to her retirement. Jack died in 2006.
Dorothy enjoyed taking care of others, crocheting, knitting, gardening, feeding the birds, reading, and her Sunday morning family breakfasts.
Survivors include three children, Michael of Detroit Lakes, Lori (Jay) Wolfe of Hampstead, N.C., and Evangeline McDougall of San Diego, Calif.; three grandchildren, Carrie, John and Briana; and a sister, Darlene Nordlund of Detroit Lakes.
In addition to her husband, Jack, Dorothy was preceded in death by a daughter, Ramona and a brother, Don.
David-Donehower Funeral Home is serving the family.
