A sweep in doubles play keyed the Detroit Lakes boys' tennis team's 5-2 victory over visiting Park Rapids Monday in Mid-State Conference action.

C.J. Hanson and Jesse Meyer bulled their way through Scott Smith and Max Byers to ignite the doubles domination in No. 1 action, while the other two DL duos followed suit.

"Hanson and Meyer played some of the best doubles I've seen this year," said DL head coach Wade Johnson. "They were outstanding as a team."

The No.2 DL duo of Garret Duncan and Derick Brehm outlasted Kyle Dickinson and James Kujawa in three sets, taking the decisive third one 6-4, after dropping set two 6-3 and winning the opener 6-2.

Alex Fondrick and David Jonason capped Park Rapids' Chris Shaw and Jonah Pearson's chances, winning in straight sets 6-2, 6-3.

The Lakers' No. 3 and No. 4 singles also won, as freshman Isaac Fondrick took down Armando Padilla with a pair of 6-1 victories, while senior Tanner Duncan downed Craig Lengseth 6-0, 6-0.

"Isaac Fondrick played well in singles and we got a great boost from out third doubles team of Alex Fondrick and David Jonason," Johnson said. "As a team, we were far more focused than we had been in our last match."

The Lakers will be vying for the Mid-State Conference title Thursday in Park Rapids, starting at 3 p.m.
