Former St. Paul resident Douglas W. Paulsen, 68, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, June 26, 2014 at Essentia Health in Fargo.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Monday, June 30 at the David-Donehower Funeral Home in Detroit Lakes; friends may call for one hour prior to the start of services. Interment will be in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Inver Grove Heights.
Douglas Wayne Paulsen was born to Irvin and Joyce (Thorson) Paulsen on May 24, 1946 in St. Paul. He was raised and educated in St. Paul and graduated from Humboldt High School in 1964.
Doug was united in marriage to Mary Veronen, November 12, 1977 at the Fort Snelling Chapel in St. Paul. They made their home in St. Paul and Cottage Grove, where Doug worked as a security officer for the State of Minnesota. He retired in the late 1990's and the couple moved to Detroit Lakes in 2010.
Doug enjoyed hunting, fishing, polishing his car, the Minnesota Twins, the Minnesota Vikings and the St. Paul Saints.
Survivors include his wife of 36 years, Mary of Detroit Lakes; two adopted daughters, Josette (Mike) Ihrke of St. Paul and Paulette Cloutier of Franklin, N.C.; three grandchildren, Bryanna, Michael and Anastasia; as well as a sister, Janice (James) Mott of St. Paul; and mother-in-law, Arlene Veronen of Detroit Lakes.
Preceding him in death were a grandson, Logan, a sister, Shirley and a brother, Lloyd.
