Dr. Luther Johnson

Former area resident Dr. Luther A. Johnson died of cancer on Tuesday, September 29, 2009 at his home in Port Richey, Fla., under the care of Hospice.

Luther worked for the government at the Detroit Lakes Swift plant, and also other plants in the area as a veterinarian in charge of inspection.

Surviving Luther are his wife of 33 years, Carolyn Johnson; his sons and their spouses, Luther and Helen Johnson, Scott Johnson, Craig and Paige Johnson, Jason Johnson, and Joshua and Gloria Johnson; his daughter and her spouse, Rachel and Tom Shuttlesworth; his sister and her husband, Dorothy and Bill White of New Port Richey, Fla. He was also a proud grandpa to Max, Ben, Ruby, Dakota, and Skylar.

Preceding Luther in death were his wife Janet and his son Mark.

He was a loving, caring man who will be dearly missed. Luther was buried on Monday, Oct. 5 at Shalom Memorial Park in Arlington Heights, Ill.
