Driver flees crash scene, hits squad car
A Little Falls man was arrested Friday after leaving the scene of an accident and colliding with a Staples squad car, according to a report from the Todd County Sheriff's Department.
Todd County deputies and a Staples Police officer responded at approximately 6:29 to the scene Friday, where a vehicle was discovered in a ditch and another vehicle was seen driving away just west of Staples, the report said.
A Staples police officer pursued the fleeing vehicle, the report said, adding that the driver, Troy Platz of Little Falls, later ran into the squad car.
The report also said that after driving for more than a mile, Platz stopped at a residence driveway, where he was arrested on suspicion of DWI, fleeing and hit-and-run criminal charges, according to the report.
No one, including Troy's three passengers, was injured during the incident, the report said, adding that the Minnesota State Patrol and Wadena Sheriff's Office assisted with the situation.
