Duane A. Muhle, 76, of Lake Park, passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 26, 2008, in his home on Lake Ida, under the care of Hospice.
Duane was born to Ole and Edith (Beckman) Muhle on Jan. 12, 1932, in Moorhead. He grew up in Longville and Glyndon, Minn., graduating from Glyndon High School in 1950. On Dec. 5, 1951, he married Laurine Hansen in Glyndon, where they made their home together.
Duane enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1952, and served in Germany during the Korean War. When he returned, he and his brother formed Muhle Brothers Construction. He continued there until his retirement. Duane enjoyed spending time outdoors, hunting, fishing and sports, but most of all spending time with his family. He will be dearly missed.
Duane is survived by his wife of 56 years, Laurine; children, Paul Muhle of Seattle, Wash., Diana (Jeff) Olson of Horace, N.D., Nona (David) Palya of Glyndon and Kristine (Stewart) Hovde of Pelican Rapids; seven grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brother, Robert; and sister, Gerrie (Sherman) Payne.
Preceding Duane in death were his parents, Ole and Edith; and sister-in-law, Darlene Muhle.
Memorial services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 2, at Cormorant Lutheran Church, rural Lake Park. There will be a memorial gathering one hour prior to the start of services at the church Saturday.
