Eagles convention coming to town

The Fraternal Order of Eagles will hold it's Minnesota State Convention in Detroit Lakes June 18-20, according to Robert Callier, Sr., the State Secretary.

The Detroit Lakes Eagles will host the convention, with headquarters at the ClubHouse Hotel.

National Eagle representatives participating in the convention will be Grand Secretary Charles "Chuck" Cunningham of Grove City, Ohio, North Central Regional President John Tobie of Cohassett, and Past Grand Worthy President George Ziebol of Ogden, Utah.

Thought the convention is joint, the Aeries and Auxiliaries will hold separate sessions. In addition to business meetings, a variety of special events have been scheduled. A Mr. & Mrs. Banquet will be on Thursday and a Ritual Competition will also take place.

The Fraternal Order of Eagles organization, founded in 1898, is known for it's fundraising and humanitarian efforts. Minnesota is home to 51 of the 1,550 Aeries located throughout the United States and Canada, with over 1 million members.

Duane Kuehl is the chairman of the convention.
