Earl G. Braseth, 82, of Lake Park, died Sunday, August 4, 2013, in Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home, under the care of Hospice of the Red River Valley.
Earl was born to Emil and Augusta (Myhre) Braseth on May 29, 1931, in Pelican Rapids. He grew up and attended District 10 country school near Lake Park and later served in the U.S. Army from 1954 until 1956.
Earl married Jean in 1963 in Park Lutheran Church, rural Hawley. Following their marriage they made their home in rural Lake Park. For many years, Earl was an iron worker and he also farmed. He enjoyed fishing, farming, hunting and spending time with his family. Earl was a lifelong member of Park Lutheran Church.
Surviving Earl are his wife of nearly 50 years, Jean; children, Kevin (Annette), Sheila (Steven) Schmidt, Eric (Kimberly) and Gordon (Anne); grandchildren, Philip, Dawn, David, Tylor, Sabrina, Jacob, Mikkel, Josie, Derek, Brooke, Jenna, Payton and Brody; great grandchildren, Aurora, Asher, Lacey and Orion; and brother, Marlin Braseth.
Preceding him in death were his daughter, Lori Knish; grandson, Thomas Braseth; granddaughter, Rosa Schmidt; great granddaughter, Annaliese Knish; and sister, Betty Jane Krueger.
Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 8, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at Wright Funeral Home in Hawley.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 9 at Rollag Lutheran Church, rural Hawley, with interment in Park Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Hawley.
