The Green Wave put on a strong attack on DL's net, as they converted 10-31 shots in the rout.

"(EGF) created nice two on one opportunities and they capitalized on them," said DL head coach Dan Maloney. "They have a number of skaters who are quick and they play well off each other.

"This game for us was about getting out there and improving. They obviously outplayed us, but we did show improvement and we just need to keep the kids determined and show they got better. We'll get there."

Junior forward Leah Jensen showed her quick moves by scoring four goals and adding an assist.

Jensen had several open-ice pickups and beat DL defenders for a couple of breakaway goals, as well as a few high-percentage shot opportunities.

The Green Wave took a 4-0 lead after the first period, but DL did manage seven shots in the second, with EGF goalie Tamara Twite coming up with several big saves on one-timers by the Lakers.

"Their goalie played extremely well and we created several nice opportunities for goals," Maloney said.

The Wave added four goals in the second, including one by Jaclyn Scanlan with 1.7 seconds left.

Jensen and Jenna Knutson capped the scoring with two tallies in the third.

The game was clean, with just two penalties called.

DL played two goalies, with Amada Moore having 18 saves in the first two periods and Veronica Roy four in the third.

The Lakers (2-9-1) will have a few days off for the holidays, then play in the Rocori Tournament Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 28-29.

They open against Faribault (6-4-1) to start out the tournament .

"We are looking to key on the little things and get better from there," Maloney said. "The girls need to be determined to keep working on getting better and keep pushing ahead."
