Economic recovery payments
The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (economic stimulus legislation) provides for a one-time payment of $250 to people receiving Social Security and Supplemental Security Income (SSI) benefits.
In April Social Security will send a letter to each person eligible for the one-time payment and all payments should be received by the end of May.
Payments will be sent automatically, with no action required by the recipient. Anyone who receives, or is eligible to receive, SSA or SSI during November and December of 2008 and January 2009 will receive the one-time economic recovery payment. Please do not contact your local SSA office at this time. Be careful of scams about these payments. Protect your personal information.
