Editorial: Bloggers wanted -- we used to call them 'stringers'
We're looking for people who love their communities and want to share news of what's going on there with everybody else in Becker County.
We need people who have time to post short news items and photos online several times a week.
If you're tech-savvy and want to jump into a blog, we'll work with you to make it happen.
If you're not sure about the technology, but want to share news about your community, we'll show you how to blog and get you set up to do it from home. It isn't difficult.
The blogs will be featured on our web site, DL-Online.com, and will let others know what's going on in your community. The good, the bad and the ugly (or beautiful) -- whatever you'd like to share.
And we'll take the most newsworthy items and put them in the newspaper.
Whether you like to report news about your community, want to post photos and stories about your child's sports team, or just like to write and post photos, we'd like to feature your work on our website through an Area Voices blog.
We're aiming to improve our website and help build an online community through a wide variety of blogs that feature our readers and their interests.
Bloggers are invited to write about family, travel, food, money, health or any other topic that strikes their fancy.
We'd love to have a blogger in every community in the area, reporting on what's happening in their area.
Photos can easily be posted along with the text, and reader comments that you control can also be part of the mix.
We'd love to get a dialogue going among our readers and in our community.
It could be a great opportunity to reach a bigger audience.
AreaVoices.com is a large community of bloggers and readers, which sees millions of page views per month. The possibilities are endless.
If you'd like to share your insights on a topic, post nature photos or video, here is your chance.
Readers will also have the opportunity to comment and start a dialogue on certain topics.
The key ingredient is you. We'd like to see blogs about school activities, sports, the outdoors, exercising, community organizations, hobbies and more.
If you have another blog set up already, that can easily be converted to an Area Voices blog, along with the entire archive, with Area Voices you will have a wide, new community audience.
Your blog could even be featured on other Forum Communications websites in the region.
If you're interested in writing a blog, go to area voices.com and register.
Let us know about your blog so we can consider featuring it on our website.
E-mail DL Newspapers Editor Nathan Bowe at email@example.com.
We're excited about the possibilities and look forward to seeing the community grow online through shared voices.
