Eleanor Lucas, 94, of Willmar, Minn., died Monday, November 16, 2009 at GlenOaks Care Center in New London.
Eleanor was born the daughter of Paul and Rebekah (Hamley) Harris on April 13, 1915 in Thief River Falls, Minn. She graduated from Thief River High School. She graduated from Concordia College in 1937. She taught in Parkers Prairie, Detroit Lakes and Audubon.
On December 18, 1937, she married Gordon Lucas. They lived in Little Falls, Detroit Lakes, Sun City, Ariz., and Willmar.
Eleanor was active in community and civic affairs and was a volunteer at Rice Hospital. She was a vocal soloist with the Concordia College Choir, directed church choirs, was active in her church and was program chairman of Calvary NTY.
Surviving Eleanor are her four children, Lynn (Don) Burgett of Spicer, Scott (Meg) Lucas of Hermantown, Jay (Lois) Lucas of Bemidji and David (Peggy) Lucas of Minneapolis; 11 grandchildren; and 18 great grandchildren.
Preceding her in death were her husband, two brothers, one sister and one grandson.
Her funeral was held Saturday, Nov. 21, at Calvary Lutheran Church in Willmar, with burial in Oak Grove Cemetery, Detroit Lakes.
Arrangements were entrusted to Harvey Anderson Funeral Home in Willmar.
