Eleanor V. (Lueker) Ohm, 87, of Detroit Lakes, died Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Ecumen-Emmanuel Nursing Home, Detroit Lakes.

Eleanor was born the daughter of Gustav and Julianna (Harke) Gorentz on May 29, 1924 in Dora Township, Otter Tail County. She was baptized and confirmed at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Vergas.

Eleanor graduated from Pelican Rapids High School in 1943. As a young woman she moved to Minot, N.D., and worked for Bell Telephone Company as an operator. Eleanor met the Rev. Arnold Lueker in Minot and they were married on November 5, 1947 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Vergas. During her husband’s pastoral career of 40 years, they served in the communities of McCluskey, Arena, Upham, Edgeley-Kulm, N.D., and Emery S.D.

They moved to Detroit Lakes in 1984, after Rev. Lueker’s retirement. After her husband’s death in 1988, Eleanor continued to reside in Detroit Lakes, where she was active at Zion Lutheran Church, serving on various committees in the church. Eleanor married Conrad Ohm on August 5, 2006 at Zion Lutheran Church.

Eleanor enjoyed gardening, crocheting, playing cards, baking, fishing and playing piano. She cherished time spent with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Surviving Eleanor are her husband, Conrad Ohm of Detroit Lakes; children, David (Cheryl) Lueker Sr. of Thompson, N.D., Marlene (Jerome) Larson of Flagstaff, Ariz., Michael (Cheryl) Ohm of Detroit Lakes and Rachael (Jay) Petersen of Minneapolis; seven grandchildren, David Lueker Jr., Jonny Thompson, Zachary and Issac Larson, Nicholia Ohm, Emily and Jenna Petersen; four great grandchildren, Dylan, Kaitlynn, Laurelee and Madison; two brothers, Rev. Bernard (Carol) Gorentz of Park Rapids, Gerald Gorentz of Vergas and sister, Elfrieda Damlo of Frazee; two sisters-in-law, Darlene Gorentz and Caroline Gorentz, both of Vergas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceding Eleanor in death were her parents; first husband, Rev. Arnold Lueker; and four brothers, John, Clarence, Edward and Vernon Gorentz.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday, March 11 at Zion Lutheran Church, Detroit Lakes, with interment in St. Paul’s Loon Lake Cemetery, rural Vergas.

Visitation is from 5 to 7 p.m. today (Sunday), with a 7 p.m. prayer service, at West-Kjos Funeral Home, Detroit Lakes.
