Bemidji's third annual Independent Film Festival continues today from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Cantabria Coffee House on 2nd Street. Holmes Cabaret Night

Unwind after a long day at work with cocktails, appetizers and exceptional musical performance by folk singer David Stoddard from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Holmes Theatre with Cabaret Night. Stoddard has recorded five original CDs, has won awards at folk festivals from Minnesota to Florida, and has been compared to greats like John Prine and Lyle Lovett. Independent Film Festival

Bemidji's third annual Independent Film Festival continues today from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Cantabria Coffee House on 2nd Street. John Peterson, national secretary for "Hands Off Venezuela," will speak at 5 p.m. His presentation will be followed by a screening of the film, "No Volverian: The Venezuelan Revolution Now," at 5:45 p.m., followed by a 15-minut closing discussion at 7:15 p.m. For more information, please call 218-444-2285. Community Band

The Lakes Area Community Concert Band rehearses from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes Senior High band room. Kendra Mohn is directing. Use southwest doors. Doors will be open by 6:30. Independent Film Festival

Bemidji's third annual Independent Film Festival continues today at 5 p.m. in the Mask & Rose Theater, located at the Masonic Temple on Paul Bunyan Drive in downtown Bemidji. Winona LaDuke of the White Earth Land Recovery Project will make a presentation at 5 p.m., followed by a screening of the film "Native Injustice" at 6 p.m. The film "One Man's Story" will be shown at 9 p.m., followed by "Cowboys, Indians and Lawyers" at 9:30 p.m. For more information, please call 218-444-2285. Refuge activities

Amateur Radio Club

The Detroit Lakes Amateur Radio Club meets at 9 a.m. in the Holiday Inn. Anyone one interested in Amateur Radio is welcome.

Kids' pan fish derby

The lakes Chapter Minnesota Darkhouse & Angling Assoc., Quality Bait & Tackle and the VFW Post 1976 sponsor a kids pan fish derby from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in front of the Rossman Avenue access and Zorbaz on Little Detroit Lake. First 100 kids get jig sticks. Must be 12 or under and have an adult present. Grand prizes given at noon.

Family Float Night

Bring your whole family in for a night in the pool at the DLCCC from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Water toys such as air mattress, noodles, lifejackets and tubes are welcome. There will be fun contests, drawings and much more. Family Float Night is free for DLCCC members, otherwise there is a special day pass rate of $3 for students and $5 for adults for non-members.

Easter egg hunt

The Detroit Lakes Women of Today holds their annual Easter egg hunt at 10 a.m. indoors at the Washington Square Mall, across from Bliss. Children ages 0-8 are encouraged to participate and join in the fun.

Sunday, March 16

'One Sacrifice'

The Congregational Church, DL, presents the cantata "One Sacrifice" at 10 a.m. as part of its Palm Sunday service. This presentation draws on reflections of God's one voice and God's one great sacrifice.

Monday, March 17

St. Patrick's Day High Tea

St. Patrick's Day High Tea is from 1 to 3 p.m. in Diamond Willow. It is open to the public. It's a day of Irish festivities, live music, Irish treats and tours.

Tuesday, March 18

Perham-Dent school concert

The Perham-Dent High School and Prairie Wind Middle School 7th and 8th grade orchestras will present their spring concert at 7:30 p.m. in the Perham High School Auditorium. The concert is free and open to the public.

Wednesday, March 20

Square dance

There will be a Larry's Plus Square Dance at 7 p.m. in the Detroit Lakes IOOF Hall. Caller is Larry Johansen.
