Reader's Theater

You can be the actor at Detroit Lakes Library with a Reader's Theater at 4 p.m. Choose a book such as Anansi and the Magic Stick, Mudball, Old Cricket or Axle Annie and the Speed Bump, then make some simple props and act out the story with your friends. This event is for elementary-age kids and their families. The Library will provide prizes for the actors and snacks for everyone. This event is sponsored in part by Becker County Friends of the Library. Twin Cities Gospel Choir

The Twin Cities Community Gospel Choir, directed by Robinson, performs at 7:30 p.m. More than 20 area volunteers will have the opportunity appear in concert with the choir on stage at the Holmes. Tickets are $18 for adults, $9 for students, and can be purchased at the box office, by phone or online at www.dlccc.org.

Library Storytime

Children ages 3 through kindergarten are invited to the DL Library at 10:30 a.m. for exciting stories and fun activities. This week's theme is "O is for Owl." No pre-registration is required, but daycares and other groups are asked to call ahead of time to ensure there will be adequate supplies. For more information call 847-2168.

Garden club

Lake Region Garden Club meets at 7 p.m. in the Congregational Church in DL. Enter across from the Mall parking lot. Speaker will be Karen Krieser from Pelican Rapids on her tour of Africa. Everyone is welcome.

'An Inconvenient Truth'

The Congregational Church, DL, hosts a viewing of the 2006 film "An Inconvenient Truth" at 7 p.m. Hosted by former Vice President Al Gore, this exploration of the subject of global warming has generated a great deal of press. There will be time for discussion following the movie.

Jammin' for Josh benefit

A benefit for Josh Fletcher, who suffered a head injury in a car accident, begins at 6 p.m. at the Soo Pass Ranch. There will be music by The Fat Cats, Todd Alan Lund and Elijah Blue. There will also be a silent auction.

Wine tasting event

The Lodge on Lake Detroit hosts a "Love Theme" wine tasting event from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Cost is $20 per person. Following is music by Christine Rosholt, jazz vocalist, and Chris Lomheim, pianist, from 7 to 10.

Square dance

Country Twirlers Square Dance is at 7:30 p.m. in Lake Park-Audubon High School. Caller is Royce Nelson.

Holmes Dance Club

The Holmes Dance Club is hosting a dance beginning at 8 p.m., in the Holmes Theatre Ballroom. Admission is just $5. The Holmes Dance Club is an informal, fun group that meets once a month to dance on the beautiful floor in the Holmes Ballroom. Music varies from waltzes to fox trots to swing and more; this month's dance features music from Doc & The Scrubs. The atmosphere is casual and is open to all ages and all dance abilities. Ricky Skaggs concert

Eleven-time Grammy winner Ricky Skaggs, known affectionately as the official ambassador of bluegrass music, will perform at 6:30 and 9 p.m. in the Grand Casino Mille Lacs Events & Convention Center. Lindsay Mac

The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center will be hosting the fresh exciting music of classically trained cellist and singer-songwriter Lindsay Mac at 8 p.m. Mac performs a diverse mix of jazz, folk, Americana, funk and rock. Her unique way of strapping her cello onto her body and playing it like a guitar is revolutionizing the way we think of this classical instrument. Tickets for this musical event are $12 for non-members, $10 for members and $5 for students. Vintage Snowmobile Rally

The DL Vintage Snowmobile Rally and Swap Meet will be held on Detroit Lakes City Beach. Registration is 9-11 a.m. Snow or no snow it's a go -- the event will be held. Over $18,000 in prizes and trophies will be awarded. Call Ryan for more information at 218-847-2887.

Radio Club

The Detroit Lakes Radio Club meets at 9 a.m. in the Holiday Inn. There will be no testing this month because of changes in FCC rules, which take effect later this month. Anyone interested in the hobby of Ham Radio is welcome to come and learn more.

The North Dakota Muzzleloaders hold their annual convention and trade fair at the Speedway Event Center, 680 West Main Ave., West Fargo, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. The event features displays and demonstrations of trades and crafts from the 1700s and 1800s. Call 701-261-4991 for more info.
