Errors doom Izzo's

The Izzo's VFW baseball team ran into a hot-hitting Perham squad Tuesday, losing their home doubleheader 10-0 and 13-3.

The Izzo's squad was plagued with errors, thus forcing their pitchers to throw extra pitches and giving Perham extra at-bats in the losses.

"We just weren't ready to play in the first game and our defense hurt us again," said VFW head coach Taylor Fuhs. "That is something we will continue to work on."

Perham jumped out to a 4-0 lead after the first inning in game one, while DL managed just one hit in the six innings of play.

"They have some good hitters and we couldn't get a hit," Fuhs said.

In game two, DL scooted out to a 2-0 lead after the second inning on a couple of RBIs by Brady Wilberg.

Ben Gailfus pitched a pair of perfect innings, but after that, the errors came piling in -- in the form of six boots, leading to a bunch of unearned runs and a 13-3 loss.

Alex Ziegler had two hits in the loss.
