Esther E. Hendrickson, 83, of Detroit Lakes, died Monday, March 28, 2011 at Essentia Health Oak Crossing in Detroit Lakes.
Esther was born the daughter of Julius and Selma (Sallinen) Paananen on August 24, 1927 in Wadena. She was raised and educated in Sebeka.
Esther was united in marriage to Reuben Hendrickson on June 16, 1946. They lived in Minneapolis before returning to rural Osage to farm and raise their family.
Esther enjoyed spending time with her children and grandchildren. She also enjoyed fishing, golfing, bowling and gardening.
Surviving Esther are her children, Hazel (Andrew) Ivy of Fortine, Mont., Reino (Sheila) Hendrickson of Osage, Judy (Verne) Jacobs of Detroit Lakes and Joyce (Conrad) Mack of New York Mills; 11 grandchildren; 14 great grandchildren; one brother, Reino (Lillian) Paananen of Menahga; two sisters, Linda (Raphael) Aho of Sebeka and Hazel (Art) Skoog of Menahga; sister-in-law, Elaine Paananen of Minneapolis; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding Esther in death were her parents; husband, Reuben (2005); grandson CR Jacobs; as well as four brothers, Alvin, Ernest, Melvin and Elmer Paananen.
Funeral services are set for 3 p.m. Thursday, March 31 at Spruce Grove Apostolic Lutheran Church, Wolf Lake, with visitation for one hour prior to services. Interment will be in Balmi Cemetery, rural Wolf Lake.
