Former Rochert resident Evelyn L. Johnson, 91, of Fargo, died Tuesday, March 24, 2009 at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo.

Evelyn Lenora Olson was born to Erik and Anna (Hanson) Olson on Nov. 3, 1917 in Moorhead. She attended Moorhead Public Schools for seven years, and was a confirmed member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead. Evelyn worked for Barney's Green Gable and Peterson Farms, both of Moorhead, for several years.

On Sept. 14, 1940, Evelyn married Harold Johnson at Rochert. Evelyn joined the Mennonite Church, which she attended throughout her adult life. Together she and Harold lived in Rochert until moving to Texas, where they farmed until Harold's death in 1957. Evelyn then moved back to Casselton and began working for the Casselton School, where she was employed in the food service department for the next 33 years, retiring in 1997.

In December 2007, Evelyn moved to Dilworth, and in March 2009 moved to Fargo, where she lived until the time of her death.

Surviving Evelyn are her son, Gary (Kim) Johnson of West Fargo; three daughters, Betty (David) Gillham of Topeka, Kansas, Mary Lou (Alan) Radermacher of Casselton and Shirley (David) Miller of Moorhead; two brothers, Norman (Helen) Olson of Moorhead and Robert (Delores) Olson of Fargo; 10 grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren.

Preceding her in death were her parents; husband, Harold; brother, Edmond; and sister, Florence Kline.

Visitation will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, April 3, followed by a 7 p.m. prayer service, in West Funeral Home, West Fargo, continuing for one hour before the service in the church on Saturday.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1 p.m. Saturday, April 4 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Moorhead, with burial in Casselton Cemetery, Casselton, N.D.

In lieu of flowers, donations are preferred sent to the Casselton Ambulance Service.
