Evelyn was born on August 16, 1916 to William and Edith (Renfranz) Beecher in South Bend, Ind., and raised with one brother and two sisters. She graduated from Central High in 1934. Evelyn's life and spirit were centered and grounded in her faith of Jesus as her Savior. Her years on earth gave witness to that faith throughout her life. She was an active member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Downers Grove, participating in Bible study and quilting. She was a devoted reader of her Bible, newspaper, and favorite magazines. She was an avid letter writer to her family and friends. She often included a bible verse to mark a special occasion, a testament to her faith. She was a blessing to all the lives she touched.

Evelyn enjoyed her travels with her husband Herbert, watching baseball and tending to her beloved cats. Her husband Herbert later became a resident at the nursing home in Glen Ellyn, Ill. Evelyn moved to Detroit Lakes, where she lived with her daughter Carol Gottenborg and became a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Audubon.

Surviving Evelyn are her husband, Herbert W. Wedeman; three daughters, Carol Anne Gottenborg of Detroit Lakes, Laurna Mae (Brian) Thomas of Columbiana, Ala., and Johanna Sue (Lawrence) Mosher of Wilsonville, Ala. She will be missed by her 14 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
