Everyone loves the pet parade at Audubon Crazy Days
Detroit Lakes Minnesota 511 Washington Avenue 56501

The $1.25 brats and pop are back. The chainsaw sculpture demonstrations are back. The Sweet Shoppe is back. Yes, Audubon Crazy Days is back.

On June 12, the streets of Audubon will be filled with food, pets, ice cream and fun.

"Just come and enjoy the day. That's the way I see it," organizer Gerard Faith said.

There are a few changes to the agenda this year, but there are also several favorites that have stayed.

Faith's Audubon Meats will have brats and pop for $1.25, with free pop throughout the day. He is offering other meat specials as well.

The Audubon First Lutheran Church's Sweet Shoppe will include slices of pie, ice cream, penny candy, beverages and baked goods from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the church.

There will be chainsaw sculpture demonstrations. There will be a bike run, and there will be a car show in the Zephyr Supper Club parking lot. There will be inflatable games for the kids.

Another event for the kids is the Pet Parade, which will have judging in several categories including Best Costume: you and your pet dress up; Best Trick: is your pet the smartest; Most Unusual: do you have a pet no one else has; Plush Pals: stuffed animal with the best story; Largest Pet: just what it says, judged by overall size.

Be as creative as possible. Use wagons, bikes, balloons, pictures, streamers and much more. Also, be sure that you bring water for your pets to drink and leashes or cages to keep them controlled. A parent or guardian must be present.

Entry and judging will be on the west side of the Lake Park-Audubon Elementary School in the Country Wood Products parking lot.

All entrants will receive a participation ribbon, a free child's cone from the Dairy Queen in Detroit Lakes and a fun size bag of chips from Old Dutch. And there will be a 1st, 2nd and 3rd for all categories. All 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners will receive a ribbon from their category and a free personal pan pizza from Pizza Hut.

Entry is from 9 to 11 a.m. Judging will begin at 11. All participants will receive their ribbons prior to the parade, which starts at noon.

The parade will be led by Smokey the Bear and McGruff the Crime Dog, unless inclement weather says otherwise.

The fire department's street dance and raffle has moved to July this year, Faith said.
