Ex-Hawley teacher enters guilty plea
A Hawley man who resigned his teaching job in the wake of a domestic assault charge has pleaded guilty in Clay County District Court to one count of disorderly conduct.
Under a plea agreement, Marlyn John Keller, 35, is to be sentenced to 90 days, with all but three days stayed.
He is to be given credit for three days already served on condition he pay $382 in fines and fees.
A charge of domestic assault is to be dismissed when he is sentenced on Nov. 10.
Keller, who was a fifth-grade teacher, resigned from the Hawley School District after he was arrested in July on suspicion of assaulting his wife.
Following the incident, district parents started an online petition calling for his resignation.
