Francis Gary Powers, Jr., returns to the ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham for a 3 p.m. presentation on Saturday, Nov. 1, to mark the closing of a traveling exhibit currently on loan from the Cold War Museum. The exhibit, which is on display at the ITOW Veterans Museum through Friday, Oct. 31, features artifacts and photographs from the U-2 Incident.  On May 1, 1960, at the height of the 'Cold War,' Francis Gary Powers, the pilot of an unarmed reconnaissance plane, was shot down over Russia. The incident and the subsequent attempt at cover-up nearly sparked a hot war.  His son, Francis Gary Powers, Jr., speaks knowingly about the U-2 Incident and the surrounding events. The closing reception for this exhibit will include a brief talk by Powers and time for questions and answers. There is no charge to attend this event.  For more information call 218-346-7678 or visit www.ITOWmuseum.org.
