Fallen troopers honored today with vigil
This week is National Law Enforcement Week. Officers who have died in the line of duty will be remembered for the sacrifice they made to keep this country safe. The National Candle Light Vigil was held in Washington, D.C., on May 14, as well as many other activities during the week.
On May 15, families of fallen officers from 2007 will be honored at our Nations Capital. Minnesota will honor her fallen with a 24 hour vigil at the Minnesota Peace Officers Memorial in St. Paul.
Officers from across Minnesota will stand during the vigil in honor of those Minnesota Officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. At 7:30 p.m., on May 15, the vigil will culminate with a Candlelight service held on the Capital grounds north of the Memorial.
The Minnesota State Patrol has eight members who are remembered each year during the reading of the names of fallen officers. They are William S. Kozlak, Roy C. Lichtenheld, Ray F. Krueger, Glen A. Skalman, Donald B. Ziesmer, Roger C. Williams, Timothy J. Bowe, and Theodore J. Foss.
