Fargo man sentenced to eight years in prison for bilking investors
FARGO - A judge ordered a Fargo man to spend eight years in prison after pleading guilty today to seven felonies.
Larry Atkins, 65, faced charges stemming from accusations he stole more than $3 million from investors.
He faced 77 Class B felonies, including charges of engaging in fraudulent practices, selling unregistered securities and transacting business as an unregistered agent.
Atkins made his appearance at a hearing this afternoon in Cass County District Court.
Prosecutors say more than 30 people were victimized by Atkins' Ponzi scheme, including several individuals who lost their life savings. Atkins has previously pleaded not guilty to the charges.
