Fargo police arrest man for attempted sexual assault
FARGO - Police arrested a 33-year-old Fargo man Wednesday after he allegedly held a knife to a woman's neck and tried to sexually assault her as they were walking to a convenience store.
Jeremy Bentzin, who lists his address as the Gladys Ray Shelter at 1519 1st Ave. S. in Fargo, was arrested on suspicion of attempted gross sexual imposition, terrorizing, resisting a police officer and on a city of Wahpeton warrant, Sgt. Ross Renner said.
Bentzin and the alleged victim are acquaintances, Renner said. The two were walking from the shelter to a convenience store when Bentzin allegedly held a knife to her neck, forced her to the ground, tried to remove her pants and made threats, Renner said.
Alcohol appears to have been a factor in the incident, which was reported at 8:30 p.m., he said.
Bentzin is being held in the Cass County Jail.
