Fargo police: Woman with 2-year-old in car was drunk, texting when it crashed into light pole
FARGO - Police here say a Moorhead woman was legally intoxicated and texting when she crashed into a light pole with her 2-year-old daughter in the car on Saturday night.
No one was injured.
The driver told police she was texting when the 1996 Oldsmobile veered out of control and struck a light pole in the 300 block of Main Avenue at 10:31 p.m., Sgt. Mark Lykken said.
Police arrested 29-year-old Rhonda Lee Furuseth on suspicion of DUI with a minor in the vehicle.
The 2-year-old, who was properly restrained in a child safety seat in the back seat, was released to a person authorized by Furuseth, Lykken said.
The car sustained front-end damage estimated at $3,000, he said. The streetlight pole had a bent base but didn't collapse.
