It will also be a better location for the food demonstrations they will be hosting this season.

So far, food demonstrations are scheduled for July 14 with Wendy Gordon, Emmanuel Community nutritionist, and July 28 with Marsha Parker, Essentia Health St. Mary's nutritionist.

"Next year, ideally, we'd have them all the time," said market president Lynnette Price.

Another addition to the market this year is honey. Price said they've had lots of inquiries about honey, and this year a producer has joined the group. That group has grown this spring, with a much larger number of sellers right away.

"We started with a group of 12 right off the bat. Growers have more (goods available)," she said of the nice, early spring weather. "They are more market ready."

There are 26 registered vendors thus far, and more will join throughout the summer, she said.

"There are a couple new vendors that haven't been there in the past," she added.

Only 10 percent of vendors sell non-food items. For instance, she said, there is a natural skin care products and essential oils from one vendor, but everything is still made by the vendor.

"Our plan is to grow the market," Price said.

For those interested in becoming a part of the Lakes Area Farmers Market, they are always open to new vendors.

"This is a good time to start preparing for next year," she said of those who may not be ready this year yet.
