Students from the Lake Park Audubon Family Career and Community Leaders of America attended the 2008 Fall Leadership Summit in Maple Grove on Nov. 9-10.

Fourteen members, and their advisor, Cheryl Hogie, listened to keynote speaker, and former FCCLA National President Michael Wade Smith from Kansas State University speak about leadership, parliamentary procedure and the importance of making positive choices.

In addition, "Youthrive Leaders," facilitated by PeaceJam FCCLA delegates, presented personal stories on accepting different cultures.

On Monday, a panel moderated by Jason DeRusha, WCCO TV, lead a group discussion on teen driving and the Families Acting for Community Safety national FCCLA program.

Students from LPA chapter were among those interviewed and included on the WCCO 10 p.m. news.

To finish the summit, chapters planned their yearly time lines, filled out service surveys, and listened to chapters share ideas about their local projects.
