Fergus Falls woman is sentenced
A Fergus Falls woman was sentenced in Becker County Court for a felony conviction of receiving stolen property.
Sherry Ann Bunnis, 52, was sentenced to 25 months in prison and over $4,000 in restitution.
According to the complaint, law enforcement was called to Anderson Gravel on County Highway 26 in Becker County on August 14, 2013 where 1,500 feet of power cables from five conveyors had been cut and stolen.
Tire tracks and shoe prints were left at the scene.
According to the report, authorities were alerted to an attempted sale at Wadena Hide & Fur where somebody tried to sell roughly 400 pounds of copper wire, like what is found inside the stolen power cables.
A description of the vehicle led authorities to Bunnis’s brother, who told officers that his sister (Bunnis) had asked to borrow his pickup and had also asked to store some power cables at his house while she burned the rubber off them.
The copper was worth an estimated $2,625.
