Fergus man sentenced for drugs
Joshua Norman Everson, 21, of 1241 Green Acres, Fergus Falls, has been sentenced in Becker County District Court for felony fifth-degree controlled substance crime, possession.
On Aug. 2, 2007, the car he was riding in was stopped by a trooper on Highway 59 after another officer reported the car had failed to dim its headlights.
The trooper found a total of 120 grams of marijuana in the car, including 102 grams in the trunk in individual bagged amounts, according to court records.
Everson admitted he knew about the marijuana and had in fact helped purchase and package it.
On March 5 he pleaded guilty to the charge and on Thursday he was sentenced by District Judge Peter Irvine, who stayed imposition of sentence for five years and placed him on supervised probation.
He was fined $500 and ordered to serve five days in jail, with credit for five days served. He must get a chemical use assessment and follow the recommendations.
