Fern Harriet Ross, 92, of Peru, Ind., passed away at 7:20 p.m. Sunday, October 10, 2010 in Dukes Memorial Hospital, Peru.
Fern was born the daughter of Andrew and Bessie McCaw Davidson on April 22, 1918 in Dixon, Neb. She married Robert D. Ross in Dixon on June 29, 1944 and he preceded her in death on September 29, 1989.
Fern was a 1936 graduate of Dixon High School and graduated from beauty college in Sioux City, Iowa. She operated a beauty shop in her home in Dixon until her marriage in 1944. She and her husband Robert resided in Fargo for 20 years, until his retirement in 1968, when they moved to their lake home on Island Lake, near Detroit Lakes. Fern's years at the lake with her husband Robert were the happiest times of her life.
Fern enjoyed traveling to Europe to visit her daughter. She enjoyed nature, especially feeding hummingbirds and spending time doing homework with her great-grandchildren. She moved to Peru in 2001 and attended the Parkview United Methodist Church.
Surviving Fern are her son Don (Sharon) Ross of Peru; her daughter Margaret Elaine Ross of Denver, Colo.; grandchildren Robert D. Ross of Ft. Wayne, Ill., and Christina Miser of Peru; great grandchildren Elizabeth, Margaret, Skyler, Emma and Briana. Also surviving is a brother, Dale Davidson of Anchorage, Alaska.
Preceding her in death were her parents; her husband Robert; and sisters Grace, Ruth, Mildred and Bernadine.
A private service celebrating the life of Fern H. Ross will be held at her home. She will be interred at a later date, next to her husband Robert, in Wayne, Neb.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Parkview United Methodist Church.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Eikenberry-Eddy Funeral Home, 84 West Main Street, Peru.
