Finalists for Think-Off to be revealed
DETROIT LAKES - The names of the four finalists for the 2008 Great American Think-Off will be announced on Thursday, May 1 by the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center.
This year's Think-Off question asks, "Does immigration strengthen or threaten the United States?"
Entrants were asked to submit essays of 750 words or less to the NYMRCC by April 1 to be considered for this year's competition.
A panel of judges is in the process of finalizing its selections; the four finalists will ach receive $500 plus travel, food and lodging expenses to make the trip to New York MIlls for the final debate.
A parade down Main Avenue to honor the finalists will be held in New York Mills on June 14.
The ultimate winner is decided by the audience attending the debate that same evening. He or she will be named "America's Greatest Thinker" for 2008.
