Fire destroyed a shed in rural New York Mills the afternoon of Feb. 27.

No one was injured in the fire, but the shed was destroyed, along with tools, construction equipment, vehicles and other materials.

The shed belonged to Mike and Jule Patron and was located at 650 West Centennial Drive.

Around 1:45 p.m., the Patrons noticed smoke coming from their shed, said a statement from the Otter Tail County Sheriff’s Office. By the time fire crews arrived, heavy smoke was coming from around the shed and the fire engulfed the structure.

The New York Mills Fire Department responded to the fire and called in crews from Perham and Bluffton for mutual aid and to help bring in water.

The cause of the fire is undetermined and remains under investigation.
