Flooding problems hit Otter Tail lake
The Board of Managers, Buffalo-Red River Watershed District, declared an emergency regarding the Grove Lake highwater and flooding problem in northwest Otter Tail County.
The lake was reviewed with Minnesota Department of Natural Resources officials from St. Paul, and felt the landlocked island with permanent residents presented an imminent danger to the health and welfare of the people living there.
At the July 28 meeting, the board authorized the removal of beavers and their dams on Maple Lake. Hopes are to lower Maple Lake, which will eventually become an outlet for Grove Lake.
