Floyd A. Warling, 88, of rural Lake Park, died Monday, January 4, 2010 at his home.
Floyd was born to Bernhard and Caroline (Nelson) Warling on September 13, 1921 in the Hamden Township, Becker County. He attended country school at District 41 in Hamden Township until the eighth grade, and then went on to graduate from Lake Park High School.
Floyd was united in marriage to Vernette Christoffers on October 25, 1945 at Lake Park Lutheran Church. God blessed their marriage with four children. They made their home on the Warling family farm, where Floyd farmed until he was no longer able. He was president of the Lot-A-Wata C.B. Club, board member of the Minnesota Valley Breeders Association, served on the Hamden Township Board and was a Nobel Grand of the Odd Fellows Lodge in Detroit Lakes.
In his spare time, he enjoyed restoring old cars and tractors. Floyd could fix anything and would make any part he could not find.
Surviving Floyd are his wife of 64 years, Vernette Warling of rural Lake Park; four children, Albin (Carol) Warling of Audubon, Lavonne (Michael) Smith of Audubon, Mavis Drawdy of Brookings, S.D., and Bernhard (Ann) Warling of Merrifield, Minn.; 17 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He will be dearly missed by all.
Preceding Floyd in death were his parents; three brothers, Edmund, Gerhard and Iver; and one sister, Myrtle Walther.
A memorial service is set for 1 p.m. Friday, January 8 at First Lutheran Church, Audubon, with visitation for one hour prior to services at the church.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials be made to the Odd Fellows (118 W. Holmes St., Detroit Lakes MN 56501).
