Football: Briard paces Raiders to win

A nice, balanced attack by the Lake Park-Audubon football team keyed a 38-12 road victory over Walker/Hackensack-Akeley Friday in the 2013 season opener.

Taylor Briard paced the Raider rushing game with 152 yards on 10 carries (15.2 ypc), while finding the end zone three times.

Meanwhile, senior quarterback Mason Swegarden threw for 142 yards while going 9-14 (64.3 percent) and hitting Briard for another touchdown through the air.

The LP-A defense was led by sophomore Hunter Christianson and junior Tim Brekken with six tackles apiece.

The Raiders will host Pillager Friday, as the Huskies got off to a rough start with a 54-0 loss to defending state champions Mahnomen.

The game is also the debut of LP-A’s new football field, which was constructed along with the new school.
