Football: Many contribute in Mahnomen’s win
A half a dozen Mahnomen rushers broke the pylons, while almost the entire town finished with a tackle, as the Indians poured it on the visiting Walker/Hackensack-Akeley 60-0.
The Wolves were held to negative-41 yards rushing, while Mahnomen had a host of rushers to accumulate 289 yards.
“When six different players scored touchdowns and 20-plus players get in on a tackle, you know it was a good night,” said Mahnomen head coach John Clark Jr.
“Our first group was dominant in the first half. Our defense really put the pressure on their QB all night.”
Levi Liebl, Kal Handyside and Kurt Francis wreaked havoc in their backfield the first half.
Defensively, Riley McCollum and Pete Fraser each made big plays.
Offensively, Mitch Foss, a ninth grader, was our leading rusher with 77 yards, two touchdowns and four carries.
The No. 1 ranked Indians (4-0) will continue their dominating style of play, in which their 205-14 scoring margin proves, to Red Lakes (0-4) Friday, for a 7 p.m. start.
