One of country music's hottest young stars, Dierks Bentley comes to Mahnomen's Shooting Star Casino on Friday, April 24, for a sold-out concert at 8 p.m. Rising country singer-songwriter-musician Judd Hughes will open the show. Other upcoming performances at the Shooting Star include Howie Mandel on May 8 and Josh Gracin on May 22.

The ITOW Veterans Museum in Perham invites the public to celebrate the bicentennial birthday of this country's 16th president, Abraham Lincoln, by attending a special play on his wife, Mary Todd Lincoln, set for Saturday, April 25 at 8 p.m. "Pass My Imperfections Lightly By," written by Vaughn McBride, will be presented as a one-woman show by actress Mary Harrison. Nationally prominent vocalist Steve Lippia and his big band will transport you back to the days of the "Rat Pack" as they perform Frank Sinatra's pop standards. Lippia's "Simply Sinatra," a glamorous evening of jazz, swing, and Sinatra-style big band sound, will make its Detroit Lakes debut at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 25, in the Historic Holmes Theatre. There will be a pre-party and fund-raiser for the theater in the Holmes Ballroom, starting with a silent auction and social at 5:30 p.m. and followed by dinner at 6 p.m. Tickets for the show only are $25 for adults and $12.50 for students; tickets for both the dinner and show are $50 each. In the 1980s, Kevin Bacon stepped onto the big screen in a pair of worn out jeans and a t-shirt and danced his way into the hearts of women and teenage girls in a movie called "Footloose." Now, "Footloose the Musical" is back for a 10th Anniversary Tour stop at the Fargodome for one performance only on Wednesday, April 29, at 7:30 p.m. Tickets, priced from $26.50 to $46.50, went on sale this week at the Fargodome Box Office, all Ticketmaster outlets including Discontent, Cash Wise and NDSU Memorial Union, online at www.ticketmaster.com, or by phone at 800-745-3000.  Discounts are available for groups of 20 or more by calling 701-298-2630.

Donna Chalimonczyk, a watermedia artist from Moorhead, will be exhibiting her work at the Detroit Lakes Library during the months of April and May. Her paintings include a wide variety of subjects including landscapes, still life, people and abstracts. Donna began painting in 1990 when she joined the Cormorant Area Art Club and was living near Lake Park. She continues her membership in the CAAC, where she attends workshops and displays her work during their July art show. She is also a member of the Red River Watercolor Society, F-M Visual Artists and the Hjemkomst Center Artists' Studio in Moorhead.

The Vietnam Traveling Wall is coming to the Chas. D. Center Post 3289 in New York Mills from June 3-8. Local VFWs are accepting donations for this event to happen.
