Frank E. Longtine, 74, of Lake Park, died Monday, February 13, 2012 at the Veteran's Medical Center in Fargo.
Frank was born to Walter and Margaret (Proctor) Longtine on February 18, 1937 in Lake Park, and grew up on a farm in rural Lake Park. He joined the Navy in 1954 and married Rochelle Gold on March 21, 1959. The couple was divorced in 2001.
Frank worked for Martin Engineering and later Haukedahl Trucking. In 1979 Frank bought his own truck and became an owner-operator. He put over a million miles on the truck before retiring in 1999. After he retired he was able to pursue his first loves, which were gardening and playing Pinochle.
Frank was well-known for the awesome produce he grew.
His parents preceded him in death.
Surviving Frank are four brothers, Aaron (Mary) Longtine, Phil (Lucy) Longtine, Orvis (Jan) Longtine and Carson (Ruby) Longtine, all of Lake Park; five children, Gigi (Doug) Newman of Detroit Lakes, Janelle Patnaude of Seattle, Wash., Lyn (Vince) Larson of Audubon, Derek Longtine of Fargo and Giselle Longtine of Bemidji; eight grandchildren, Doug Newman, Alexis (Adam) Molina, Travis Newman, Adam Patnaude, Danielle Patnaude, Micheal Larson, Nathan Larson and Andrew Longtine; and one great grandson, Jeremiah Molina.
A memorial gathering will be held from 5 to 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 17, with a 7 p.m. prayer service, in Wright Funeral Home, Lake Park.
