FRAZEE B-BALL: Hornets can't finish comeback

A 23-5 second half run by the Frazee boys' basketball team almost turned into an upset of the visiting Mahnomen Indians Thursday in the Hornets' season opener.

The Hornets rallied to tie the score after being down by 18 points with their 23-5 run, which was capped when Frazee's Matt Tangen nailed a three pointer to tie the game at 47-47.

Senior guard Beau Hanson drained another three at the buzzer to tie the game at 51-51 to force overtime, where the Indians outscored the Hornets 10-4 for the 61-55 victory.

Hanson finished the game with 17 points, which included going 5-8 from beyond the three-point arc.

Senior forward Dan Janu added 15 points and had 16 rebounds, three blocks, two assists and two steals, while Cory Wokasch hauled in six boards and had five points.

Cody Nordquist finished with six rebounds and six assists, while Tangen netted 10 points.

The Hornets will travel to Crosby-Ironton Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. start.
