PERHAM - Wrestling is all about taking care of the extra things.

Frazee got plenty of extras on Tuesday.

The Hornets won five of the first seven matches - getting bonus points in all of them - to set up a 42-18 rout of rival Perham at Prairie Wind Middle School.

"One of the things we've been doing all year is getting the bonus points all along the way," Frazee coach John Barlund said. "We've got good kids out there at every weight, and we can get on a roll."

Just seven matches in, Frazee sprinted out to a whopping 27-6 lead behind three pins, a technical fall and a major decision.

The lead stretched to 42-9 with two weights to go.

"I look up and we've got nine points," said Perham assistant Wayne Werner. "We've got state place-winners out there, a couple of kids around 100 wins - one that almost has 200 - and all we have is nine points.

"They've got a solid team all the way through. They don't give up the bonus, and they go with the bonus. They're good."

Perham head coach Robb Moser wasn't at Tuesday's dual due to illness.

Even when the Hornets weren't winning, they were scoring moral victories.

Up 16-3 after pins from Trevor Stilke (103 pounds) and Bruce Lemon (130), and a major decision from Tanner Ellenburg (119), Frazee's Myrel Schermerhorn held Perham standout Sam Warne to just three team points on a 12-6 decision.

"That was huge for us, especially for momentum," Barlund said. "We say if we lose, lose small. That was important, too."

Rij Koehnen followed with a technical fall at 135, and Cody Piper had a pin at 140 to cap the blistering bonus-point burst.

"We've got stoppers, but when a stopper gets a decision, it's not a good thing," Werner said. "A decision from your stopper is just delaying the beatdown.

"...This doesn't mean anything from a section standpoint, but we should've learned a lot. They were very, very good teachers tonight, so I hope we had our notebooks out. That's how you do it."

Rick Brandt (171) also scored a pin for Frazee. Jesse Hein had the only pin for Perham, coming at heavyweight.
