Frazee to get new clinic
A new $900,000 clinic in Frazee is expected to open next spring.
The new Essentia Health St. Mary's-Frazee Clinic will be located at 300 Main Ave. East.
The clinic is expected to open next spring, and will replace the existing clinic at 114 W. Main St.
Dr. Paul Hendrickson, a long-time Family Medicine physician in Frazee, will continue to staff the clinic.
This October, he'll be joined by Nurse Practitioner Karin Halvorson. The team is supported by nurses and clinic staff.
"The caregivers and staff at the Frazee clinic have a great reputation," says Peter Jacobson, who oversees the Essentia Health-St. Mary's clinics.
"Now the quality of the facility will mirror the quality of the care patients are receiving."
Essentia Health is investing about $900,000 to build, furnish and equip the new clinic.
The 4,600-square-foot facility will have four exam rooms, a room for minor medical procedures, a laboratory and reception and waiting areas.
"Building a new facility solidifies our commitment to the Frazee community to provide high quality and accessible primary care," Jacobson says.
"In Frazee, it was time for the clinic to be replaced," Jacobson said. "We really needed a better climate for patients to be treated in."
While Essentia Health - St. Mary's has its main clinic in Detroit Lakes, it supports satellite clinics in Frazee, Lake Park, Mahnomen and Pelican Rapids.
The Pelican Rapids clinic was built a year ago, Jacobson said. "It was a new clinic and a new market for us."
Plans for the new clinic in Frazee have been in the works for several years, he said.
The location of the new clinic will offer improved access and visibility, he added.
The existing clinic is in an older downtown storefront.
A groundbreaking ceremony for the new clinic was held today in Frazee.
